Facility - Overview

Due to its elevation of 8000 feet and positon facing the snow peaks of Himalayas, Dunagiri's climate remains cool, pleasant and agreeable most of the year. The area is blessed with bright sunshine all around the year.

Winters: November to February is when night temperatures are sub-zero. Days are bathed in a gloriuosly warm sunshine with stunning views of the snow peaks. Daytime highs of 15-18 C, nightly lows can dip to -1 to -5 C. This is the time for thick woolens, bodywarmers, caps and shawls.

Spring: March and April is a bright and colorful time. Tune into a vibrantly regenerating earth, blooming with rising sap and rising energies. Nature seems of have a whistle and song on its lips at this time. Pleasant days with highs of 22 C, night lows of 4-8 C.

Summer: May and June, when much of northern plains are bristling with heat and dust, at Dunagiri it is still so cool enough to put on a jacket in evenings. Days are very pleasant, nights are cool. Highs: 24-29 C, lows: 6-10 C.

Monsoon:July, August, monsoon arrives towards end of June and lasts until August. Throughout day one witnesses the drama played between short bursts of rain of 10-20 minutes followed by glorious sunshine. Clouds envelope you, sometimes you find yourself floating above them, rainbows play hide and seek. Everything becomes incredibly green and it’s a particularly delightful time to visit. Lots of fruits and flowers. Highs: 24-28 C, lows: 4-10 C.

Autumn/Fall: September and October, is very colourful and bright as the vegetation begins to turn orange, red and golden. Our estate is filled with the fragrance of thousands of flowers, and the air is festive. An excellent time to be here, but so are all seasons! Highs of 15-25 C, lows: 2-8 C.

Spring and Summer are abundantly green. Do not say, 'It is morning,' and dismiss it with a name of yesterday. See it for the first time as a newborn child that has no name. --Tagore.
