Q: How many people will we be traveling with?
A: Dunagiri’s tours generally include between 8-10 guests. Our small tour sizes make for a very enjoyable, very personal tour experience. Group sizes are deliberately kept small to minimize our impact on the environment. Small group size of like-minded enthusiasts also ensures that each participant receives the personal, high quality attention they need to develop at their own pace and enables the group to travel unobtrusively, enjoying genuine contact with the places and communities we visit. Restricting the number of participants on each trip also enables us to accommodate for varying levels of experience within the group.
Q: Will I need to speak any foreign languages during the trip?
A: No. It is possible to travel on a Dunagiri tour knowing only English, English being commonly spoken in India. However, in the Dunagiri area, few local people speak English, making communication a truly fun and unique experience. Dunagiri’s Retreat Director and Tour Director will be with you to help with language issues. If you are interested in learning basic Hindi, however, our pre-departure packet will include some commonly used words and expressions, and we also offer the opportunity to hone your Hindi skills with casual and fun language “lessons” during the tour.
Q: How safe is it to travel in India?
A: Wherever you travel, India included, all the usual personal safety precautions should be taken. Travel warnings, issued by state departments, will be heeded. Travel insurance is required, which provides financial protection in the event of an unexpected cancellation. Also, Dunagiri’s staff is trained to assist guests in the event of an emergency. While at Dunagiri safety measures will be taken regarding activity participation, trekking safety, wildlife awareness and safety, etc. As with any travel or activity, there are no absolute guarantees of safety… travel, nature, people and events can create challenges.
